It's 8am in PDX, and I just got off the Skype VOIP call from Freebird before she went to bed at midnight in Hong Kong! After her 21 hour flight nightmare, she was able to meet up with our friends from China and enjoy a nice meal - and some local brew - in the city she's referring to as "Asian Las Vegas."
Their beer of choice: Blue Girl Beer. Described on their website as a traditional German lager. Freebird says it's 'the same as Kirin, Sapporo, etc.' which is not a shocker.
Luckily her flight from PDX to SFO was on Horizon and she was able to enjoy a glass of Bear Republic XP Pale before leaving the country. So, she did get a little bit of hops before 2 weeks of weak, foreign lagers.
