Freebird and I are @ The Green Dragon enjoying a couple Happy Hour quaffs. Lompoc's Proletariat Red is 'not as good as I'd hoped,' according to Freebird. 'Not hoppy at all. Too syrupy.' I agree that there could be more hops, but I'm still astonished by the hop-transformation I've watched my wife and true love undergo in the last 18 months. Truly astonished.
I went with the Green Dragon Snoutinator Chocolate Stout - brewed on the premises! I'd like to get a side-by-side taste test with Rogue's Chocolate Stout because I believe the recipes are quite similar. But can't tell for sure.
Prost to Happy Hour & Free WiFi @ The Dragon!
UPDATE: Round 2:
Freebird - Buckbean "Tule Duck" Red Ale - 'Delicious. If my eyes were closed, I'd say it's an IPA." I could taste the malt that I would have expected with the red.
ASG - Lompoc "Crazy Dave's" Imperial Stout - It's an Imperial that they pour a full pint over 10oz; therefore, no alcohol, and I can't taste it. It's good, but not a hefty stout. Preferred the Snoutinator.
UPDATE: Round 3:
Freebird went for another pint of "Tule Duck" - bo---ring. No, it's really a good beer.
Freebird's best bud from T.C. - Willow - joined us for Round 3 and sipped the Fearless Porter - 'Smooth with a stronger coffee aftertaste than most porters, but quite good.'
ASG - Tasted the Fort George 'Murky Pearl' Oyster Stout and before ordering. Murky Pearl was just a little scary. And I was not a fan. Not definitely bad, but nothing to write home about. So I completely changed it up and ordered the Victory "Hop Wallop" IPA. Love Hop Devil, so Hop Wallop has to be good.....CITRUS!!!!! Big change from the earlier stout-fest, but very tasty.
Prost to The Dragon!
