Buzzard's Bay Brewing: Beer with a Negative Carbon Footprint!

Beer Luvvas,

I've received my last shipment for my 6 month subscription to the Microbrewed Beer of the Month Club. Unfortunately, my posts - and the corresponding ad link on the site - has not yielded enough sales (1) in the last six months to continue the subscription as a business investment. And since Freebird and I are about to build our primary residence while continuing to rent our current location, it's an expense that I can't currently justify.

However, I am looking forward to renewing my subscription once we've reduced our monthly housing allowance by one rent payment!

This month returns us to the heartland with Tallgrass Brewing Company in Manhattan, Kansas; and the Eastcoast's Buzzard's Bay Brewing in Westport, Massachusetts. I haven't had time to taste the beers yet, but I wanted to let you know about the sustainability methods that Buzzard's Bay is using out in MA....

In 2000, The Russell Family (owners of BBB) began brewing lagers which require much more energy consumption than ales (refrigeration requirements) using all locally (US) grown ingredients with the exception of the finishing hops that they import. In addition, they use "thousands of Carbon Sequestration Devices" to capture all the CO2 produced through fermentation and transportation of their product! I've had some difficulty accessing additional information on their website, but doesn't it sound cool!

In addition, they are also in the process of adding renewable energy capacity to remove themselves from the grid!

Responsible. Sustainable. Brewing. Check back in when I report out on how I enjoy their product!

Prost to Buzzard's Bay Brewing! Brewing with a Negative Carbon Footprint!
