New Home: New Bar Needs a New Kegerator!

Beer Luvvas,

Freebird and I are 'this close' to finalizing our plans to have a home built in Portland! Woohoo! Nine months of agonizing decisions coming right up!

However, the new home will have a new party basement, with wet bar. And what does a wet bar need??!!?? A new kegerator of course!!

Now I know many folks have gone the convert an old fridge route, which is great. But I'm envisioning a display piece rather than a tap from the wall, or over the sink. So I'm looking for input on systems that are:
  • Functional: holds 1-2 full size kegs with 1-2 taps
  • Form: looks good in your den, party room, bar, etc.
  • Environmental?: hopefully there's some information available on how energy efficient these things are/aren't - esp v. converting an old fridge

I'm asking because I have not been able to successfully Google/Bing my way to a satisfactory answer.

Help me Beer Blog Readers/Commenters. You're my only hope!

Prost to the new house and new kegerator!
