Just a few hours SW from PDX is a sleepy little town on the Oregon Coast which also happens to be the birthplace of The Rogue Nation.
The Roge Brewery is where it all started, and where a considerable amount of cutting edge brewing continues to occur. Just try one of their not on the regular menu brews.
However, before you go their are 2 things you need to know:
1. Rogue beers are brewed in the NW tradition of strong flavors. Each quaff will be distinct, but also strong. There are no 'hints' of flavors. The each hit you in the face upon first sip.
2. This is a Locals bar. Keep your cellphone in your pocket, or take 2 steps back into the restaurant. They will let you know, loudly, that theya are not allowed in the bar.
But come enjoy something that can't be had elsewhere: John John - bourbon barrel aged Double Dead Guy; or Nw something I can't remember - an over hopped IRA that packs a serious punch.
And 3. Bring a growler or 2. They fill anything from anywhere.
