Beer Blog Backlog

Beer Luvvas,

I apologize that my posts have been a bit haphazard lately. I have no excuses beyond the fact that I let Life's other activities (most recently my debut in the Pole, Peddle, Paddle event in Bend, OR - Freebird and I finished under 3hrs as a co-ed pair which was our goal - woohoo!) take priority over espousing on my latest beer experiences.

I hope in this post to catch up on some of the more significant items....

First, after spending another weekend in Bend, I again have to commend Cascade Lakes Brewing. We picked up a couple six-packs of their Pine Marten Pale Ale (an excellent post sextathalon quaff), and had lunch on the patio before driving back to PDX. Their were 8 of us who sampled the wares (unnamed seasonal Imperial IPA, Monkey Face Porter, 20" Brown, and Pine Marten Pale). All received high marks. I found the Imperial IPA to be more like a Tie Fighter than the Death Star. In addition, everyone enjoyed the diverse food selections. So much so, that I'm adding Cascade Lakes to the list of Great PDX Beer Locations, even though one needs to drive to Bend to get their beer!

Second, a few posts ago I mentioned a HEAVY Beer drinking weekend and then only posted about one of the beers consumed. The other major beer quaffed was a 2008 Brewmaster Reserve Top Sail Imperial Porter from Full Sail. This bourbon barrel aged beauty was XTREMELY smooth despite the seriously strong bourbon nose that hits you when you tip the pint towards your over-salivating mouth. Needless to say, my faith in this local craft brewer has been at least a bit restored after experiencing this brew.

Well, Life's other priorities have walked into the room. Time to back away from the blog.

Prost to sharing what we can with friends!
