Two New Brew Reviews...

Beer Luvvas,

Sorry for the sporadic posts....new year, new job, new home (rental), and I'm barely finding time to drink beer - let alone write about it.

Luckily, I was able to pull off the rare beer-based business meeting last week with a former colleague from my days with a certain global semiconductor manufacturing firm...Da, da, da, Da! (jingle) We're both working in the solar PV industry now, so we were able to sit down at Baliey's Tap Room and quaff a couple good pints while we were catching up, and discussing possible future business opportunities....

I kicked off the meeting with a pint of Wildfire Black Ale, a nice roasted malt black beer. Our barkeep (and owner?) informed us that Wildfire is about to change it's name to Ten Barrels? See this article for details....

My second round was the Cascade Dark IPA. This was a noteworthy brew! I was interested based on Cascade's "out of a can" performance in the previously posted Blind Pale Ale Challenge, and wondered if I would enjoy a beer in one of my preferred (IPA), although strange (dark?) styles. I was not disappointed.

The Dark IPA had the usual floral hop aroma - which was odd coming off such a dark colored pint, but didn't follow up with the expected citrus bite. The flavor was well balanced, and finished roasted, rather than bitter. It was quite the brew.

After those two rounds we called it quits....I'm glad I had the MAX ride out of downtown that night. Those 2 quaffs packed quite the punch!

Prost to business meetings over beer @ Baliey's Tap Room!
