Beer Luvvas,
I was back in Phoenix this weekend working on the final items to prep the ole homestead for renting, and helping Freebird pack up her things. We closed Saturday night with one final trip to San Tan Brewing.
We met about 15 or so of our PHX friends there for a few pints, a few laughs, and a few tears since we are officially no longer PHX residents.
I am glad to say that I was able to sample their Oktoberfest before I left town. It was a very passable Marzen, and especially good if you consider the fact that this was the brewer's first lager ever!
The biggest surprise occurred when I tried our server's recommendation: OPA - a 50/50 blend of the Oktoberfest and Hopshock IPA! It was surprisingly good, even though it reminded me of certain elderly patrons of my parents' church's annual spaghetti dinner where they'd ask for a "blush" which was a 50/50 blend of the boxed Chardonnay and boxed Merlot!
I guess I shouldn't knock it 'til I try it!
Well, Arizona. It was a (not-so) good stint. The weather's nice (now), but my time has drawn to a close.
Prost to those Arizonans we leave behind! I'll miss the people, but that's about it.
