Goin' Back to Cali....

Beer Luvvas,

Actually, I'm already back in Cali...Cal-i-forn-i-A! And for a second straight week, I met up with a couple old Harvey Mudd College buddies at a local brewpub. This time I crossed The Bay to try out Steelhead Brewing Company in Burlingame. Funny thing about Steelhead Brewing, is that there's also a location in Eugene, OR! Which makes them an Oregon Brewer in addition to their Bay Area (Burlingame, Irvine) locations.

I sampled a couple different quaffs on this trip. They have multiple (10) stouts & porters in the rotation. This trip my option was McFaddin's Oatmeal Stout, and it did not disappoint. I'm sure it wasn't as flavorful as Uncle Buck's Espresso Stout, but it was still a fine brew. I'll hope for Uncle Buck the next time I hit the place.

Second round was Bombay Bomber IPA on CASK! Now this was a worthy pint! The hop notes were very muted, but the floral aroma waffed across the crowded room with each tip of the glass. Excellent!

After many hours of reminiscing, I closed with their seasonal Marzen Oktoberfest. Unlike the XTREME Avery Imperial Oktoberfest, this Marzen was very traditional, and a robust, yet easy drinker. An excellent way to end the evening.

Finally, I'm making a minor judgement call that Burlingame is closer to SFO than SJC so I'm calling Steelhead Brewing the #1 Place to get Beer in San Francisco - until I find a better one!

I'll be back again next week, and The Beer Mapper has many more to choose from!

Prost to finding new Bay Area Brewpubs!
