Beer Luvvas,
Today is my 'official' last day with my current employer, so there have been a few going away lunches and 1/2 scheduled Happy Hours. In addition, Freebird and I met up with Mr. & Mrs. MCO for a beer related dinner to celebrate my new gig.
First Happy Hour: Old Chicago, Chandler.
Old Chicago is the standard watering hole for my team. You could be sure that at least two folks would head down the road to OC for a couple drinks on almost every Friday. Therefore it seemed the right place to celebrate my departure with this group. I enjoyed multiple Hazed & Infused quaffs, and a couple pints of Lagunitas IPA. Everything would have been fine if a couple TQ shots weren't passed my way before the end of the evening.
Dinner with the MCOs: BJ's Brewhouse, Chandler.
Yet another chain restaurant with their 'let's cater to the masses' blase beer. However, I was actually surprised with BJ's Jeremiah Red! This Irish Ale was actually a very tasty morsel. I'm not sure the secrecy behind it's "blend of five imported specialty malts" is all that necessary, but for a mildly hopped (25 IBUs) red ale. It rates as 'passable' on Freebird's scale of reds. I followed Jeremiah with a pint of BJ's P.M. Porter, and if it wasn't on nitro it would have been worse. I was very disappointed with this non-distinctive beer. On the upside, their avocado egg rolls and turkey cobb sandwich were excellent!
Happy Hour #2: San Tan Brewing.
This is where I'll spend my final hours with my department coworkers this afternoon. Nobody would drive all the way to Papago, so San Tan will have to do. Looking forward to a few pints of Hopshock and Big Red Ale!
Prost to the last day at your old job!
