Michigan Beer Tour Part II: Sacred Cow IPA

Beer Luvvas,

The next new Michigan Craft Beer Review is Arbor Brewing's Sacred Cow IPA.

Now, most beer enthusiasts know that descriptors for IPAs describe both the floral and citrus notes, both in aroma and flavor. However, most of the mass produced IPAs end up leaning toward the floral, rather than the citrus - especially those coming out of the West Coast, and those that I've considered XTREME. Sacred Cow IPA is the first I've had that definitely focuses on the citrus side of the IPA/hops flavor.

The aroma is almost pungent with citrus notes, and the initial flavor is almost sour with the lingering hints of grapefruit - and not the mellow pink kind!

Although Sacred Cow pales in comparison to the great West Coast IPAs according to my own palette, it is distinctly refreshing and the better of the two Michigan brewed IPAs that I've sampled thus far on my excursion.

Next up, Arbor Brewing Brasserie Blonde Brats, and hopefully another trip to the store to grab a couple more local brews to sample!

Prost to citrus-hop heavy IPAs!
