Men's Journal Beers of Summer Part Deux: Two Wisconsin Brew Reviews

Beer Luvvas,

I'm slightly deviating from the Michigan blog-chain because when we went down to my In-Law's local shoppe on Sunday night to stock up on more Michigan craft beers, I found their MI selection to be lacking, but a beer from Wisconsin: Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy jumped out of the cold case at me as one of the Men's Journal Best Beers of Summer that I had not yet had the pleasure of sampling.

Now that I've had a couple, I completely understand why MJ raves about this beer. The bottle describes this treat as a cross between a Weiss Beer and Lemonade - which I completely agree with! The "natural lemon flavor" pairs easily with the soft weiss malt and the result is a very easy drinking beer, no matter how hot - or humid - your outside temps.

As a bonus, I continued with the Cheesehead Wisconsin theme and picked up a sixer of Point Amber from Stevens Point Brewery (Stevens Point, WI). This amber was also an extremely smooth quaff, and paired well with our pizza Sunday night.

Now the only Wisconsin question is will Brett Farve be granted his unconditional release from the Packers to allow him to pursue his un-retirement with another NFL franchise?

Prost to Cheeseheads and their Wisconsin beer!
