Freebird Reviews San Diego Red Ales

Beer Luvvas,

I got a quick text from Freebird the other night with her reviews of two San Diego based brewery's red ales. For those of you who don't know Freebird, her reviews are all in comparison to Deschutes Cinder Cone Red. Check out her lone blog post reviewing Cinder Cone. So keep that in mind.

Coronado Brewing Co. Mermaids Red Ale: From the website -
A well balanced, medium-to full bodied beer, red in color and very flavorful. The red color and slight caramel-roasted flavor comes from generous amounts of caramel malts and a touch of chocolate malts. Well hopped to balance the malty sweetness, and dry-hopped with cascade for a full hop flavor and aroma.
From Freebird, "Delicious!"

Karl Strauss Brewing Red Trolley Ale: From the website -
Red Trolley is a big beer that’s great with big, rich foods. It’s a perfect match with steaks, sausages, pork chops, marinaras, and rich meats. Red Trolley is brewed with caramel malts that bring out the sweetness in any caramelized dish—from caramelized vegetables to sweet caramel desserts.
From Freebird, "I was disappointed."

Karl Strauss Endless Summer Light: OK, it's not a red, but it's been recently consumed by Freebird!
From the Website -
Endless Summer Light’s full biscuity flavor and crisp finish complements delicate white fish like halibut and contrasts with heavier fish like salmon. It’s also a great way to cool your mouth after spicy or assertive foods.
From Freebird, "Been drinkin Karl Strauss Summer Ale since 1pm steady. It rules!" Txt Timestamp: 7:54pm

Well, she wasn't much for words since the Dead Things blew their first chance to win The Cup by losing in Triple OT when they were ahead w/34 seconds to go in the third period! And info was transferred via txt message.

Prost to Freebird and Prost to San Diego Red Ales!
