The hits just keep on comin'! I got another txt from Freebird about another great beer find in Wine Country! She was having dinner at Trail Dust BBQ in Morgan Hill, CA. Check out thier beer list....

Poppy Jasper Amber Ale from El Toro Brewing in Morgan Hill.
From the brewer's website: Named after a precious for of quartz indigenous to only Morgan Hill, California, this classic dark ale is smooth and refreshing. Its dark color results from the use of caramel, higher kilned dark crystal and chocolate malt. The beer’s flavor is malty and fruity with a subtle roastiness. To finish Poppy Jasper is generously hopped with Galena, Cascade and Liberty hops for a perfectly balanced wonderfully complex character. Winner of the 1995 California Beer Festival Gold Medal; 1996 Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal.

Note that Freebird did blindly select a multiple award winner, and validate that it was, in her opinion, tasty. And she picked it over Dead Guy! Wow, sometimes she just amazes me!
