I can't say enough to describe how good The Abyss is. The smooth chocolate and coffee notes are unmatched in another Imperial Stout. From the moment I cracked the wax cover and popped the standard Deschutes brown bottle cap, until I finished the final sip, this beer was stupendous!
This is not your standard quaff. Mackeson XXX is good. Old Rasputin is very good. Rogue Imperial Stout is very, very good. Widmer's former KGB Imperial Stout was XTREMELY good.
The Abyss is simply unmatched.
