Hopdevil and Harpoon IPAs: Better late than new

Beer luvvas,

MCO received another "shipment" of Victory Hopdevil and Harpoon IPAs over the holidays. We recently noticed that the Hopdevil had its own "born on date" that showed his buddy purchased the beer last summer, and held on to it until it was cool enough to ship to the desert.

Funny thing: these aged IPAs were smoother; yet still hop-worthy, than what I remember the last shipment tasting last spring. I've previously had darker beers: stouts, barleywines, porters; aged over a year, but never an IPA.

Anyone ever aged IPAs longer than six months? What was the result?

Prost to the wisdom of aged beer!
