San Diego - Best So Cal Brewpub Experience!

Beer luvvas!

Sorry it took so long to get to back to my last post on San Diego - as they say, "Shit happens."

Before I post on what I consider to be the Best Brew Pub in Southern California, and therefore San Diego, I want to mention a great party the first Friday of every month: The Firkin Keg Party @ Karl Strauss Brewing Company in La Jolla. This month's keg was a double hopped version of their Stargazer IPA. Although, the over-hopped flaava that Free Bird would call, "bitter beer face" was absent in this offering, it was quite smooth.

Everyone should experience this event where a "random" person from the bar, in this case a tall, tan, twenty-something who was getting married the next day, is chosen to tap the firkin keg and free samples are then poured for all patrons.

But alas, the San Diego escape had to end sometime. Luckily, Free Bird and I decided to head north to Escondido to experience the new Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens. Please read Free Bird's previous post to learn about Stone's support of the Slow Food Movement, but since this is a blog dedicated to beer I must list this brewpub as the #1 Brewpub Experience in SoCal!

Their draft list is not exclusive to their own excellent brews, although their Vertical Epic 07.07.07 was my beer of choice on this particular excursion. They also include 25 guest taps ranging from SAN locals Green Flash, AleSmith and Port Brewing; plus Bear Republic and a smattering of others.

In addition, their cold room stores more bottles than can be listed but Lost Abbey, Dogfish Head, Ommegang and Victory are a few of the fine brewers represented.

Prost to Stone Brewing World Bistro! The #1 Brew Experience in Southern California!
