In spite of ASG's obvious bias towards Portland beer, there are other (some would say better) places to drink beer. Colorado has to be one of them. I have just returned from the Denver/Boulder soon-to-be metropolis. Damn, if they don't make some good beer. Boulder Beer makes Hazed and Infused dry-hopped ale. Very nice.
We made several other stops for beer and food. One pleasant surprise was the Mountain Sun Pub. They brew their own beer. Being a hops man, I really enjoyed the IPA. Lots of hops, lots of bitter and goes well with food. Who could ask for anything more?
Our best stop was at the Breckenridge Brew pub near Coors Field. Our flight was too early to stay for the game, but that meant the pubs around the field had plenty of seating available. Breck Brews send some of their bottles to AZ, but this was our first trip to the Brew Pub (they actually have 3, we went to the Blake Street location). See a sample beer list here. You know I'm all about the hops. Make no mistake, the 471 Small Batch IPA was great (some would say "EXtreme"). However, stealing the show was the Red Ale. It was like dissolving a homemade caramel in a great red ale. So smooth I almost forgot I had to drive to the airport.
'Til next time, keep making great beer Colorado!
