Hola Cerveza Amores!!!
OK, it's been at least 15 yrs since my last Spanish class, so I apologize if I've offended any of my potentially bilingual readers. But, Cinco de Mayo is manana (no tilde/n combo for the n-yeah on my HP keyboard) and I have read that it is traditionally celebrated with beer - at least in the US.
So here are Hops & Barley Blog's recommended Cinco De Mayo Cervezas!!
From Rogue Ales
Rogue Chipotle Ale is the unofficial cerveza for Cinco de Mayo and is dedicated to Spanish author Juan de la Cueva, in 1575 he wrote of a dish that combined seedless chipotles with beer. Chipotle Ale is an amber ale infused with smoked jalapeno (also known as chipotle) in the final fermentation, giving this beer, which has a rich malty backbone, a touch of heat and chili spice in the finish without overwhelming your palette. Try it with the usual suspects, Tex Mex or burgers, or pair it with some spicy Indian or Thai cuisine. Try pairing Chipotle Ale with Rogue Creamery's Smokey Blue, a blue cheese sold smoked over Hazelnut shells--this hard to believe combination is amazing! A favorite beer blend is Chipotle Ale and Rogue Chocolate Stout for a Cinco de Mayo (mole') black & tan...Rogue Chipotle is available in 12-ounce and 22-ounce bottles.
And if you wish to prove your gastro-intestinal fortitude.....may I recommend Cave Creek Chili Beer from Black Mountain Brewing in Cave Creek, AZ. I haven't enjoyed this beer yet as a local, but I recall an Oregon Brew Fest from years past where 12 oz of this "hot on the way in and twice as hot on the way out" brew called the day short. Imbibe at your own risk.
Arriba! Viva Cerveza!!!!
