Good evening beer luvvas!!!
Well, ASG recently had another B-Day, meaning that theoretically I am wiser than I was just a few days ago....that must explain the grey hair growing around the temples.
More importantly, I've received gifts. The most blog worthy was a gift from my Lil Sis - Grilling with Beer: Bases, BBQ Sauces, Mops, Marinades & More, Made with Craft Beer, by Lucy Saunders. This book may change my life. I HATE cooking. Last weekend I tested my first recipe....
Free Bird and I are in a Cooking Club w/2 other couples here in PHellX. We meet approximately bi-monthly, and had a gathering on Cinco de Mayo where we attempted to follow a Hispanic theme for our dishes.
Free Bird and I were on sides and deserts, and my lovely wife had picked out an avocado salsa for appetizers, and a banana salsa (aka Bananas Foster, but sliced) for desert. Grilling with Beer had a salsa based on Vienna Lager from BeerBistro.com that I added to the mix.
We all agreed that the heavy tomato and spice (1/4 cup of serrano peppers) would make for a great chili base, but it was also a great contrast to the lighter, avocado based, salsa Free Bird contributed to the event. My Vienna Lager of choice was Negro Modelo, brewed and bottled by Grupo Modelo who also brings you Corona and Pacifico - a couple great brews now that the temp in PHellX will be above 90 'til October.
I'll continue to post more, as I grill more w/great beer.....there's like 8 different beer/brat combos to try this summer!!!
Cheers to Grilling with Craft Beer!!!
