Albquerque, NM - Intel to Close Fab 11

Good evening beer luvvas, especially those who live in ABQ, NM!!!!

Well, it's with a heavy heart that I recall the memory of beginning my working career @ Fab 11 in ABQ, NM. Since Intel announced that they will be shutting down production in Fab 11, I feel like my childhood home is being bulldozed because the population has moved on, and they are revitalizing the slum that my old neighborhood turned into.

But I prefer to remember the happy times, so I dedicate this post to those with whom I enjoyed many a pint @ ABQ's best places to get beer!!!!

#1 - Billy's Long Bar - Billy's is a sports bar, that at least when I lived in ABQ 10 years ago, doubled as the best singles bar (aka meat market) in town. This bar sports the most taps in the town (ABQ is a large town, rather than a small city in ASG's opinion), but also has the best urinals in town....a must see for all male - and most single female beer luvvas in ABQ.

#2 - Kelly's Brew Pub - I'm pretty sure that Kelly's is the Central Ave pub I remember as having $2 pints of home brew in many excellent flavas back in '96-'99. They moved into a historic building in '99, so new locale and atmosphere - but the taps are still the main attraction. Also - you can reserve space to brew your own using their recipes!

#3 - Turtle Mountain Brewing - Located in Rio Rancho (aka where everyone from ABQ moved next door after Intel opened), Turtle Mountain was brand spankin' new right before I moved away. It's been a long time, but I recall the brews fondly.

Cheers to ABQ Brew and my former Fab 11 cohorts that quaffed them with me!
