PDX #2 Brew Location...

TGIF Beer Luvvas!!!!

Another weekend is upon us and I'm on beer #2 for the evening. I'm sensing a binge drinking opportunity...Woohoo! cuz I'm @ home and goin nowhere but the grill, the dinner table, and hopefully the firepit for one last Java Log since Spring in PHX is officially shot to shit and it's startin' to get HOT!

And since it's startin' to get HOT, I'm saddened that I've probably had my last stout for many a month. And since I can't have stout, I'm reminded of my favorite stout that I can't have in PHX since it is neither bottled, nor available outside two locations in my home town of PDX....Widmer KGB Russian Imperial Stout.

One of those locations is Widmer's Gasthaus Pub which ranks behind Rogue's Flanders Pub as PDX's #2 location to get brew!!!! (The other is A&L Sports Pub.) WGP is number two not because the beer is subpar, but because of it's smaller number of taps, and therefore flava variety, relative to Rogue. On the other hand, the food selection and quality @ the Gasthaus Pub is a step above Rogue - and most other brewpubs I've expereinced.

The fare can't be described as pub-grub, but as upscale Continental American with a focus on local ingredients. Better food might move WGP to #1 in some peoples' minds, but not in mine - and it's my blog and I'll post what I want to, post what I want to.....

Prost to Widmer KGB, and the hope that it can be obtained outside PDX!!!
