Vision of Hops & Barley Blog

Hops & Barley Blog is dedicated to all who know there is no such thing as Bad Beer. There is Beer, Good Beer, Great Beer and best of all FREE BEER!!

I'm starting this blog for a couple reasons:
  1. I LOVE Beer! I am an admitted beer snob, and I'll spend most of my postings discussing craft or micro brews; but I'm not a beer technocrati obsessed with British Bitter Units (BBUs), or different malts, or top v. bottom yeasts. For me, it's all about flavor! Well, a little about aroma and texture, but really it's about the flavor. I'll be posting and archiving notes and recommendations for some of my favorite beers available in bottles, and where they can be found.
  2. I recently moved to Phoenix, AZ from Portland, OR and I've been struggling to find good beer on tap. I hope to document great places to get beer on tap - not only in PHX & PDX, but in as many major cities around the globe as my beer drinking friends and I can experience.
  3. I'm also an avid skier, and there are very few things better after a day of skiing (or night for that matter) than a couple pints of good brew! I plan on compiling a list of great ski-town brew pubs and what brews are best taken in a growler back to the hot tub.
  4. One of the best beer experiences is the beer event, or beer festival! There are a couple that I attend every year, and more that I hope to experience in the near future. I'll be posting my plans and key finds at all upcoming beer festivals that I'll be attending. Hopefully I'll be able to meet Hops & Barley Blog fans at some upcoming
  5. Although I don't home brew myself, some of the best beers I've experienced have been brewed in my friends' garages. I hope that a few of them will share their recepies and techniques to you the beer loving public through Hops & Barley Blog.

I know that beer preferences are very personal and not everyone is going to appreciate my particular pros and peeves, so I'll be adding posters to Hops & Barley Blog to ensure that the opinions are well-rounded and every reader can find at least one Hops & Barley Blogger they can relate to, and hopefully be turned on to a new brew, a new pub, or a new event to experience!

Welcome to Hops & Barley Blog! I hope you enjoy sharing a few virtual beers!

It's After Five Somewhere - Cheers!!
