Sushi and SAKe

Hello Beer Luvvas!!!

My blog this evening is on brews to consume with Sushi. Free Bird and I enjoyed Date Night this weekend @ our favorite local sushi bar - Sushi Eye, and they had an AMAZING Happy Hour - buy one 22+oz Sapporo, get one FREE!!!

Which leads me to the title - SAKe, I'm not referring to the Japanese rice wine here, I'm referring to Sapporo, Asahi & Kirin (SAK) - the three beers available at most sushi bars. My personal fav is Sapporo, but Asahi & Kirin both fill in well in a pinch. They each come in 22+oz bottles - and everytime a beer comes in a bottle larger than 12oz, it's a good thing.

I agree that in most cases, SAKe (don't ask about the little e, it spelled sake and I've been brainwashed by my current employer. Wanna advertise on my blog, and help fix that employer part??) tastes very much like Macro-swill lager. But after that first sip of Miso soup, there's something refreshingly crisp about a SAKe brew.

And what is the best with one of the SAKe brews?? The Sakebomb! Drop a shot of real sake into a pint of one of the SAKe beers and slam the brew, then slam the glass on the table. 3 bombs later, you're blotto!!

Sakebombs around! Prost!!!
