The New Bootleggers

In keeping with his generous nature, ASG was kind enough to allow me to post on his blog. He has subtly "suggested" that I keep my topics to beer from the East Coast. I'm not saying that I am afraid of him, but I am going to heed that advice.

Like your host, I am a devout fan of the India Pale Ale. Since moving west about 5 years ago, I have discovered many, many good examples. I do miss the beer of the 13 Colonies, however. My evil genius friend Jon and I have set up a cross-country shipping scheme so that I can enjoy beer like Victory Hop Devil (no distributor in AZ) and he can get his hands on Mirror Pond (Deschutes is not easily found in VA).

Victory is about 20 miles west of Philly. They describe their Hop Devil IPA as "menacingly delicious". It's hard to disagree. Every sip reminds you why they put hops in beer. This is a great beer for snacking. Every bite of your food will taste like the first with you mouth being reset by the bitter aromatic hops. Find out if you're one of the lucky ones who can buy it locally (Here).

Hop Devil was first enjoyed at Monk's Cafe (Go to Monk's) . An entire post will be devoted to this place in the future.

Cheers, MCO
