Java Log & Mendocino Brewing IPA

Good evening hops and barley blog fans!

A quick post this evening....had some friends over for dinner and then sat around the fire pit since it's only 60 some degrees outside @ 10pm in PHX these days. We enjoyed our first of many Java Logs - think of it as a duraflame that's made out of recycled coffee grounds and some natural, non-parafin, product to keep it all together. Java Logs burn 96% cleaner than wood - so it helps cut down your carbon footprint while you swig brews in front of a bea-u-ti-ful flame! Java Logs are available @ Albertsons (esp. on Alma School & Queen Creek), Whole Foods, Frys, Safeway & Walgreens in AZ - check the website for a location near you!!!

The beer of choice this evening was branching out to a new (to me) brew from an old Californian friend - Mendocino Brewing Co in Ukiah, CA - Blue Heron Pale Ale. Unlike the Bridgeport brew of the same name, the Mendocino Blue Heron is a mild golden ale "with a refreshing, distinctive hop character." Now, I may be growing too fond of the now popular "over hopped" IPAs, but I would not have classified the Blue Heron Pale as having a hop character. Although it was tastey around a late season Java Log Fire Pit!

Time to take the dog out to pee before bed.

Prost! Beer Luvva's!!!!
