Imperial Stouts

Ok fellow beer luvva's, last post from Seattle. I'm about to hit the road for one last night in PDX (beer mecca) before returning to Wife and dog and j-o-b in sunny & f'in hot PHX, AZ.

Got SQHUB outta da house for lunch @ his local watering hole - Wedgwood Ale House - where they have a full bar and 18 brews on tap. Of those 18, 3 currently are Stouts - an excellent percentage if you ask me. Although they had Rogue's Shakespear Stout on Nitro, and what turns out is a not very regular The Abyss Russian Imperial Stout from Deschutes, I went w/Dick's Imperial Stout to end my Seattle trip w/some local flava.

Since I seamed torn while making my beverage order, the bartender was gracious enough to bring a small taster of the Abyss for comparison.....In the end, Dick's was the better choice for lunch. It was sweeter, and less malty than The Abyss which went well w/my Buffalo Burger and fries (w/chup & tartar of course). The Abyss was Sooooper Malty, and would have been a pleasant quaff later in the day - not before my upcoming 2.5-5hr drive from Seattle to PDX (depending on traffic).

Dick's Brewing is well known for it's Dick Danger Ale - a popular choice @ the Oregon Brewer's Festival most every summer (last weekend in July, and yes Free Bird and I will be making the pilgrimage from PHX again this summer - see future postings on details!).

Well, SQHUB and I need to finish burning some discs so I can hit the road. Hope to quaff a couple pints w/the fam in PDX tonight. Will post later....

Til then - it's after five somewhere. Prost!
