Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Will it's St. Paddy's day which brought to light the fact that no matter how bad the brewpubs are in your local area (PHX included), there should be a local Irish Pub that at least pours Guiness for your tastebuds.

According to the informal poll of a guy who was born in Scottland, rasied in England, and now lives in PHX, the best Guinness pour in PHX is @ Fibber McGee's on the corner of Elliot & Dobson in Chandler. The St. Paddy's Day crowd earlier this evening was happy, but not rowdy or raucous, which as a thiry-something beer enthusiast works well for me. The age range included some near, if not already, centurians on the high end; and Damn you must have a great fake ID on the low end. Usually Fibber's has a pool table on hand to go w/a couple TVs for sports viewing - flat panel behind the bar is the best option, so get there early if you are going to watch a specific game. They also have Trivia on Tuesday and live Irish music on Sundays starting @ 1pm. So stop by sometime - at minimum for PHX best Guiness pour.

I'll leave you hops & barley blog fans w/my favorite Irish toast (mostly because my Grandparents had it posted on the wall behind the bar in their basement)....
